Where To Delegate Your 2022 Marketing Budget

Jan 10 2024 Published by admin under Uncategorized

4 Essential Business Marketing Budget Tips
I know, I know: we haven’t even reached Halloween yet, let alone the holidays. But stay with me. Because if you’re a fellow entrepreneur, now is the time to start thinking about your business goals for 2022.

Business goals start with marketing. And marketing starts with a plan. Start planning early, and you set yourself up ahead of your competition, so you’re ready to hit the ground running in 2022.

Having the right marketing plan can make or break your business (I know – I’ve seen it both ways). Here are my top 4 recommendations for delegating your marketing funds in 2022.

4 Business Marketing Budget Tips for 2022 #1: Set Your Budget
First things first: do you have a marketing budget? If not, then set one (pronto!). It’s pretty tough to create a successful business if you have no money to spend on that business.

Set a budget that you think will afford you enough money to grow your business. And don’t worry. Your marketing budget can be on the small side – it all depends on where you are at with your business, and how quickly and how far you want to escalate.

#2: Improve Yourself
It doesn’t matter where you are in your business. There’s always something more that you can be learning. So first plan to invest some of your 2022 marketing budget in your own education and expertise. Update your professional growth and expand your knowledge base, so you grow as your business does.

For example, in my own business, we deal in branding and graphic design, online marketing, custom web development, and more, and our industry is constantly changing. So I need to continually learn new skills along with updating the skills I already have. Every year, I take courses, I read books, and I make an effort to learn as much as I can, so I can share that expertise with my clients.

Think about what you can be learning in your industry, regardless of what it is. By improving on your expertise, you are also improving your business and its potential to grow.

Invest some of your budget in yourself, because the more you are an expert in your field, the more you will shine above your competitors.

#3: Attend Live Events
Another thing to consider in 2022 is attending live events that pertain to your business.

These are great not only for learning from the speakers but also for meeting new people who work in your industry.

You’ll meet great people, hand out cards, and make new connections, all while learning from experts in your field and doing critical market research.

Of course, the pandemic has changed live events a bit. Lots of events have gone online – which can be a good thing, as you can now access lots more relevant events without having to travel.

But still, try to look for relevant speaking events in your area. As long as it’s done safely, meeting people ‘in real life’ can be incredibly powerful.

So allocate some of your marketing budget and try to attend at least one event in 2022! I always have a great time at networking events and meet lots of interesting people who help me grow.

READ: How To Make An Impact With Your Personal Brand At Live Events

Many people don’t realize just how much of an impact their personal brand can make. This is especially true at conferences or other large networking events.

Sometimes we forget about how we come across to others when at these events – and that can be a big mistake.

#4: Business Marketing
Lastly, we have the on-the-ground marketing itself. This is your SEO, your social media, your social media ads, your search engine ads, and your content marketing.

This is an area where so many entrepreneurs get stuck because they think they can learn to do it all themselves. Trust me: that’s unrealistic at best.

Trying to become a marketing expert will waste your time without getting any results. It takes years to become a marketing excerpt – all time that is much better spent focusing on what you do as a business.

I know those courses you see popping up in your newsfeeds are tempting. They make it look so easy! But most people don’t even finish them!

So if you’re considering an online course to learn something quickly, remember that only 10% of people who start an online course actually finish it. And those that do finish rarely come away with something of value.

Instead, use your 2022 marketing budget to hire an expert. Just make sure they actually are an expert! Outsource to a reputable source like an established online marketing company. You might also benefit from working with a consultant (learn more about my one-on-one small business strategy consulting here). Just be sure to vet them thoroughly.

Then once you’ve done your research and found a good fit, trust their experience and expertise, and let them guide you. They’ll likely need some time to understand your branding and messaging, but then let them shine (remembering that organic marketing takes time).

If you need any help with growing your business in 2022, then please get in touch. We can help you not only create your marketing budget but execute on aspects of it as needed. Our agency has experienced professional web developers, brand experts, search engine optimization experts, social media professionals, and more, and we love working with small businesses through either direct work or even mentoring clients through these kinds of processes.

Online Safety and Security Are Most Important when Buying from eCommerce Portals

Jan 10 2024 Published by admin under Uncategorized

Although consumers might think their passwords are failsafe, hackers are increasingly creative when it comes to hacking simple passwords and four-digit PINs. Require customers to create longer passwords with a combination of upper- and lowercase letters, numbers, and special characters. And if a customer fails to enter the correct password after a predetermined number of attempts, lock their account and ask them to reset the password. Online shopping merchants should select a third-party payment vendor that customers can trust . Promote a website’s security by displaying SSL certificates and the padlock symbol, which lets customers know any data sent and received will be encrypted.

And while it might not seem as important as your company’s website, you need to make sure you protect yourself on those social media websites, too. Of course, your business isn’t the only thing that you need to protect from common cyber threats. Your customer’s safety is also of the utmost importance, and thus, you need to make sure you’re set up to take care of them online, too.

If not properly validated, a malicious query injected into a packaged payload can give the attacker access to view and even manipulate any information in a database. Personal data or personal information refers to any data that can be linked back to a specific individual — most simply, this includes names, email addresses, and phone numbers. Any data set — even scrubbed of specific names or numbers — that can identify a particular person is considered personal data. Protecting personal data is particularly important when it comes to data privacy regulations like GDPR . Have questions about how your company is handling ecommerce fraud protection? Our extensive fraud protection resource library provides you with the top trends and best practices for your business needs.

And in the age of COVID, it’s safer than going out even if you’re fully masked and gloved. While most transactions will be uneventful, security on those purchases is not a given. As a result of these changes, merchants will see fewer cart abandonment and higher conversion rates. Experts say that by using 3DS 2.0 the checkout time can be reduced by 85%, and cart abandonment rates can be lowered by 70%.

Whilst the latest practices in security have pointed towards MFA (multi-factor authentication) to enhance security, paradoxically, this has been identified as a top pain point amongst online shoppers. One in five (20%) experienced payment friction through multiple verification and authentication. Furthermore, when companies show that they can provide safety, privacy, security, reliability, and exercise data ethics with their online programs or devices, consumers will have high digital trust in that brand or company.

When the customer swipes their card in the ATM card reader, the information is copied from the magnetic strip to the device. By doing this, the criminals get to know the details of the Card number, name, CVV number, expiry date of the card and other details. To look like a credible source online shopping, your brand has to stand out positively. One thing that online users are going to look for is a website that is safe and secure. Investopedia requires writers to use primary sources to support their work. These include white papers, government data, original reporting, and interviews with industry experts.

Because this number is found only on physical credit cards, cybercriminals who purchase credit card numbers on the dark web are generally unable to provide this critical piece of data. You can trust the Astra firewall to stop Spam, XSS, CSRF, malware, SQLi, and many other attacks on your website. It ensures that the only traffic that accesses your eCommerce store consists of the real users.

Some are accidental, some are purposeful, and some of them are due to human error. The most common security threats are an electronic payments system, e-cash, data misuse, credit/debit card frauds, etc. In this article, we’ll tell you 7 reasons why cybersecurity is important for your digital marketing strategy.

Credit cards constitute a popular method of online payment for online shopping websites but can be expensive for the merchant to accept because of transaction fees primarily. Debit cards constitute an excellent alternative with similar security but usually much cheaper charges. Besides card-based payments, alternative payment methods have emerged and sometimes even claimed market leadership.

If SSL certificate encryption is absent, any electronic device between the sender and the server can access sensitive details. Hackers can thus take advantage of your exposed passwords, usernames, credit card numbers, and other information. Therefore, the SSL certificate will come to your aid by making the data unreadable to unintended users. Online shopping businesses experienced 32.4% of all successful cyber attacks in 2018.

Secure electronic transactions were used to facilitate the secure transmission of consumer card information via electronic portals on the internet. Secure electronic transaction protocols were responsible for blocking out the personal details of card information, thus preventing merchants, hackers, and electronic thieves from accessing consumer information. PCI compliance refers to a set of security standards established in 2006 by the Payment Card Industry. They were developed to ensure that any organization that processes, stores or transmits sensitive payment data maintains certain security protocols. The details of those standards are frequently adapted based on the latest data breach-related activity, and vulnerabilities detected as a result. Other standards for digital security for online debit and credit card transactions emerged after the protocols defined by secure electronic transactions were introduced in the mid-1990s.

What’s important for merchants to remember is that it’s far harder for them to recover from a security breach than it is to prevent it in the first place. There are many gift cards “exchanges” out there that are a great idea—letting you trade away cards you don’t want for the cards that you do—but you can’t trust everyone else using such a service. Better yet, simply go directly to a retail brick-and-mortar store to get the physical card. Unlike the previous version of 3D Secure, the 2.0 protocol supports non-browser-based payment methods including wearables, in-app purchases, mobile payments, and digital wallets.

Or, cyber-criminals gain access to your site via a third-party, a successful phishing attempt, or cross-site scripting. Secure electronic transaction was an early communications protocol that was developed in 1996 and used by e-commerce websites to secure electronic debit and credit card payments. Secure electronic transaction protocols were supported by most of the major providers of electronic transactions, such as Visa and MasterCard. These protocols allowed merchants to verify their customers’ card information without actually seeing it, thus protecting the customer. The information on the cards was transferred directly to the credit card company for verification. It is typically seen as being safer than using credit cards, as it is much more difficult for hackers to gain login credentials compared to credit card numbers.

Understanding How People Read Your Direct Mail Results in Higher Response Rates

Jun 16 2023 Published by admin under Uncategorized

With a series of extensive eye-camera studies, Professor Siegfried Vogele, dean of the Institute for Direct Marketing in Munich, Germany, analyzed the precise movement of a subject’s eyes as he or she opened and read a mailing.

The study established that people read the outer envelope first. Then, after the envelope, the reader turns to the letter, the enclosure and finally to the response device.

If we pass the reader’s inspection of our envelope, on average we only get about 11 seconds before the reader decides to read the letter or trash it.

With such a short time to make our sale, knowing how readers examine our direct mail packages is essential. Fortunately, with Professor Vogele’s findings, we can now boost our response rates by positioning our most powerful copy to increase its readership. (And we can better position required copy that could otherwise distract the reader’s attention from our sales argument.)

Here are the report’s most significant findings.

Using eyes flow to get your envelope opened

Professor Vogele’s research confirmed that on average, the reader gives us only 7 seconds to persuade them to open the envelope. Surprisingly, most of the 7 seconds is spent on the back of the envelope as it’s being opened. The front of the envelope may get first attention but the back gets longer attention.

When opening an envelope…

The eyes first fix on the recipient’s name and address (Teaser copy should be nearby since the reader’s attention goes here first.)
Then quickly, the eyes take in any headlines or pictures near the address.
The gaze next moves to the return address in the upper left
Then across the page to the stamps, meter impression or postage indicia before the envelope is turned over for opening.
Once the reader turns the envelope over, their eyes go to the upper left, quickly checking out any pictures or copy. The eyes then jump to the upper right as the envelope is opened. (Most readers open envelopes from right to left with the eyes following the finger movement.)

Remember, with the reader spending only 7 seconds on the front and back of the outer envelope, our message must be quick and to the point.

Positioning your letter’s sales argument to boost results

Common sense tells us that we’re going to get better results if our recipients read the letter. Professor Vogele’s studies tell us:

Readers start at the top of the letter reading first their name in the address and salutation
Then, they go to the end of the letter to see who signed the letter
And from the signature, readers typically go to the P.S.
But rather than going immediately from the salutation to the signature, most eyes tend to skip down the page pausing for a brief fraction of a second to take in text that’s highlighted.

Underlining is the most common way to call attention to your text but it can also include highlighting with color and using sub-headlines.

When you do use underlining, it’s best to underline just a few words rather than a whole line. And regardless of how you highlight text, do so to emphasis benefits to the reader.

After the reader completes their scan of the salutation, signature and P.S., they often return to highlighted text. Use this to your advantage by highlighting text that includes benefits to the reader.

Who is writing?

When a letter signer’s signature is difficult to read, the eyes tend to go to it repeatedly and body language indicates a negative attitude on the part of the reader. It does help to print the letter signer’s name under the signatures but, if you can, avoid “creative” signatures. The reader wants to know who is writing.

The beginning of your letter is at its end

Once the reader sees who signed the letter, most eyes automatically turn to the postscript. Nine of ten readers will read the P.S. before moving back to the top of the letter.

The postscript is really the beginning of the letter rather than its end.

Keep the P.S. to an average of two to three lines and use it to restate the reader’s benefits, the offer and to issue a specific call to action.

The impact of illustrations

No graphic element plays a greater role in determining how your direct mail is read than illustrations. Before any word of text is even noted, eyes will be attracted to photographs and/or drawings.

Typically, the reader will go to the pictures first, then the headlines and then to highlighted portions of the letter. Four of five readers participating in the Vogele studies followed this pattern.

Use illustrations to stress benefits rather than your company or product.

If you use a large picture, put it at the top of the letter to pull the reader back to the beginning – rather than having the eyes move back to the highlighted text. And when you use multiple pictures, put the largest picture at the top of the page. The eye will go here first but then be released to move through the text.

Leading the eye with your layouts

Readers typically go to the enclosure after the letter but before the response form. The reader will scan your enclosure quickly and then, if they decide it’s worthwhile, they begin with the front cover.

From the front cover, about one-half of your readers go to the inside of a folded enclosure while the other half turns to the back cover.

Just as with your letter, readers will give first attention to illustrations with their eyes jumping from one illustration to the next before moving on to large and mid-size headlines, while smaller, sectional headings go largely unnoticed.

Once inside a folded enclosure, the normal eye path starts with the reader entering at the upper left corner and then moving quickly to the upper right corner. The eyes then move in a sideways “U” going slightly across the center of the spread and then exiting at the lower right.

In 70-80% of the pieces studied, the readers moved just across the enclosure’s center “gutter” from right to left and then quickly moved on off the page at the lower right.

However, if you use a compelling illustration at the far left and smaller or no illustrations to the right, the reader is more likely to extend the “U” further to the left and getting more of your message read.

In cases where the only illustration was in the lower right, the eyes tended to simply move down to that spot from the top of the spread, taking in little else on the two facing pages.

Closing the sale with the response device

Professor Vogele’s research confirms much of what you already know about response devices. Yet his findings make a wonderful “checklist” as we move to close the sale.

Use a separate response device, rather than one that must be cut or torn from another enclosure. Separate reply cards are 3 times more effective than those that are attached.
Put the recipient’s name and address on the reply card. This implies you’re waiting for a reply and encourages a response.
Use an individual’s name in the return mailing address. It tells “who” is waiting for the reply.
Use tear-off stubs — they are like having a receipt — and use color to set off anything that is to be detached.
Make sure all of your reader’s logical questions are quickly answered. Tell them what to do, how to do it and what risk they’re taking. (A risk they overcome thanks to your Guarantee.)
Describe the benefits the reader will receive when responding.
And be sure to tell your reader what to do, how to do it and when to do it.
Directing readers’ eyes to your most powerful sales proposition is virtually certain to increase your response rates. And as direct marketers, we owe it to our clients to practice every technique known to increase their profitability.

4 Best Marketing Tips For Handyman Business Owners

Jun 16 2023 Published by admin under Uncategorized

If you are a handyman business owner and you are looking to take advantage of Pareto’s principle (often referred to as the 80/20 rule or the law of the vital few), you might want to know the top 4 marketing tips for effectively promoting your handyman business. By focusing on the small, but important, marketing concepts that are going to give you the biggest result for the time and money invested you can gain significant ground and then double back later to add additional streams of prospects for your business.

Here are the 4 top marketing strategies that I recommend to consulting clients that will have the biggest impact:

First, articles and content for your website. Writing unique, fresh content for your website is what is going to attract potential prospects and significantly improve your chances of having pages show up in organic search engine results. When you look at the amount of traffic you can get from taking the time to write a series of articles for your handyman business and compare that to paying for traffic from a pay per click search engine, the true value of article marketing becomes apparent.

Second, place up classified ads for your service on CraigsList. With CraigsList getting over 8 million unique visitors to its website every month, why not go to where the traffic is already? Place up an ad with an irresistible offer and a strong call to action on CraigsList and, following their terms of service, keep the ad posted toward the top of the category that best suits the nature of your ad. Doing this will not produce a flood of inquiries, but should generate a slow, steady stream over the month.

Third, I am a huge fan of direct mail and recommend that you start using it in your handyman business. If you don’t know where to start with direct mail, consider using direct mail with your existing client base. If you don’t have an existing client base, consider using direct mail to target people that are centers of influence like real estate agents to find home owners that need work done and need a handyman recommendation.

Fourth, for an instant influx of business at an extremely low cost, try using flyers. Whether you use flyers to target real estate agents, real estate investors or offer an irresistible offer with a very powerful call to action door to door to homeowners, you will find the there are few things with a faster response time than flyers to market your handyman business.

So, to jump start your marketing for your handyman business, try all four of these. Of course, there are lots of other marketing strategies you should employ as well, but these four are the ones I would personally suggest you start with.

Internet Network Marketing – Leveraging by the Numbers

Jun 16 2023 Published by admin under Uncategorized

This is 30 day program to take you from zero to hero and we are going to start by enhancing your popularity on the best piece of real estate any where in the world. You guessed it, it is the front page to Goggle. Now as I stated before the fasted way to get from zero to hero in 30 days of less is through Pay Per Click Advertising. Its easy to setup a Google ad words account and you will see traffic going to your opportunity within hours if you set up your account correctly, so that is what we are going to cover first, how to setup your advertising campaign.

Even if you don’t have a website you can still get your ad in front of literally millions of people every day and have them call you with their credit card in hand. The first thing you need to do is go to the Google website and on the lower left hand side of the main page is link to Google advertising. Click on that link and then choose the side that says Goggle Ad words. You will need to establish an account with Google by putting In a valid email address and then you will need to setup a password. Once you have completed that then you can begin to setup your ad campaign. First you need to enter all of your billing information so that way after your campaign gets on it ways Google can bill you through out the month.

Now that that you have your billing established you can create your ad. Start by establishing the ad settings. If you are person who is specializing in direct sales you might want to set your Geo Target locally so you can dominate your local areas however if your business or opportunity is capable of going global then I recommend to set your Geo target to only English speaking countries it much easier to communicate if their is ever a problem or issue in the future. The next step is setup your daily budget, this may sound weird but the higher the limit that you place the more often your ad will show. All the best marketers suggest that you begin with a daily budget of at least $1000.00 then as you build your specific ad you can customize your different ads, keywords and keyword bidding to maximize your daily budget. As you may know, you only get charged if someone clicks on your ad to get more information, so don’t sweat about setting a higher daily budget.

Once you have established your daily budget, its time to start building keywords that are relevant to your potential customer who are seeking your specific product or service. You can build specific keywords for example If you are De Walt Drill Sales person then you can make one of your key words De Walt Drill, then every variation that you can think of because Google has exact phrase or broad phase, the more broad the word or phrase is, the more expensive it is to you and the more relevant the keywords are to your text ad the higher the keyword rating will be making the cost for specific keywords less. This will allow you to show your ad more often, If you can place the name of the specific product or service in the main part of the text then that is targeting your specific type of buyer.

For a better understanding go back to the drill analogy most people just don’t go looking for a drill they go looking for something that can make a hole in a certain diameter so by placing those specifics in the main part of the text with the surrounding information describing the your specific product then you are laser targeting just those who are seeking that item. An example of this you could advertise flawless holes up what ever size every time, then provide a brief description of the drill and then your contact information, if you have a website make sure your URL is directed to the page that you where describing in your text because your potential customer was looking exactly for that so you do not want to waste their time looking at something they did not come to see. however you could make suggestions that allow for higher sales volume within your website but don’t make it the focal point when your prospect initially hits the page directed in from the search engine. Create different versions of the same ad and spend more money on the ad the converts the most prospects in to satisfied customers.

Since you have PPC pretty much down now the hard work comes into play. Search Engine Optimization takes time and effort but its not impossible to get high ranking in a fairly short time now most experts agree the fastest way to get top search engine rankings is through article marketing. If you are able to write decent content and submit it to several article directories your website will get better back links which will increase your page rankings. So every day for 30 days if you want to improve your page rank with the search engines you need to write at least 1 article with relative content to what ever your are marketing, this can be applied with direct sales or network marketing opportunities, the more relative your content is the higher you will rank in the search engines.

The whole reason why people get involved with network marketing is to create leverage, you leverage your time, your money with others with similar interest then everyone benefits. Think about it why do you think mutual funds or hedge fund managers are so successful, because they pool millions of dollars to gether to lessen the risk but because their is so much money their are big returns. If you want to learn more about leveraging and how you can make more money check out the link listed in my resource box listed below.

Marketing With eBay Classified Ads

Jun 16 2023 Published by admin under Uncategorized

“How to use eBay classified ads?” is a question worth answering. Before I proceed with this article, I must remind the reader to always check eBay’s rules and regulations before implementing any of the following suggestions. The rules change on an ongoing basis, and all following techniques were acceptable at the time this article was submitted.

Overall value is one advantage of marketing with eBay classified ads. Compared to other popular methods of advertising, eBay classifieds are definitely worth a look. The monthly charge for a classified ad is approximately nine dollars and ninety nine cents. Other well known advertising avenues really can’t compete with this price. For example, take a good look at Google AdWords. A popular search term can cost the advertiser a pretty penny. Results, in the form of sales, are often not worth the initial investment. An advertiser pays the inflated cost of the lead, or pay per click, regardless. Loss of your investment could be the unfortunate outcome.

Exposure is another key advantage of marketing with eBay classified ads. The exact figure is difficult to estimate, but eBay is visited by millions of potential customers a day. This is an enormous opportunity to get your name or product in front of a vast audience. eBay’s exposure provides a good opportunity to market your product or service when combined with the value.

Direct marketing with eBay classified ads is one direction that an advertiser could take. Directly selling a product or service within the classified listing is perfectly acceptable. The advertiser may include a description of his products or services, in great detail if they wish. An image or a photo of their products can be displayed. This is a great option that you usually won’t find within print classifieds. A link back to your website is also accepted, and this is always advantageous.

There is also a more advanced method of marketing with eBay classified ads. This method involves leading the viewer of an advertisement to a squeeze page containing an opt in box. It would be beneficial to offer the viewer a free gift within the advertisement. An eBook or a free report would be a good example of a gift. The future subscriber would fill out the opt in form and then be directed to a download page to receive their free gift. It is recommended to use an autoresponder service that gives the person an option of unsubscribing from the list. This maintains a professional appearance and keeps the viewer happy. The author feels that this is truly a great way of utilizing classified ads. The true secret of marketing with eBay classified ads is using them to build your list. You are basically pulling customers away from eBay, in order to market to them at a later date.

Marketing with eBay classified ads is a great strategy for any online business. An advertiser can really use a creative and imaginative listing to boost their online ventures.

Effective Email Marketing – 3 Key Elements For Success

Jun 16 2023 Published by admin under Uncategorized

I recently answered a question on LinkedIn titled “Is email marketing an effective marketing tool?”.

While the question was mainly geared towards buying bulk email lists and sending unsolicited emails, I thought it was a good chance to shed some light on email marketing (and all direct marketing for that matter) and what you need (and need to avoid) to create an effective email marketing campaign that will get you results.

If you want to know what makes a good email marketing campaign and what drives your customers away faster than you can blink, this article is for you.

Spam Vs Opt-in Emails

Now, before we talk further about each, we must make a distinction between what constitutes spam email and what doesn’t.

Spam email, in general, is sending an email to someone who has not requested to receive that information. A reputed email list provider/vendor/owner will not sell any emails to you, they will rent it. What that means is, instead of you getting the list of emails, they will allow to send your campaign to specific emails based on a certain demographic criteria (age, location, position…etc), all without actually having access to the individual email addresses. If you buy a list from somewhere, that is the first sign that it might be spam.

Whether you buy or rent an email list from a third party, you need to make sure that all the subscribers to that email list did choose to receive email from that vendors and that they are not receiving these emails without their consent, in other words, They “opted in” to be on that list.

Is bulk (or spam) email an effective tool for business promotion? Absolutely not. Unless you don’t care about your brand, don’t mind the negative effect of being associated with spam and don’t mind being blocked by your ISP and email clients, then bulk marketing is for you, otherwise, stay as far away as possible from it. If I was considering doing business with you, and receive a spam email from you, I will definitely not buy from you.

Is email marketing an effective tool for business promotion? Absolutely. There’s a very big difference between spam and permission (or opt-in) email marketing.

Effective Email Marketing

Permission marketing is a very effective tool to promote your business and stay connected with your customers. For your email marketing campaign (or any direct marketing campaign) to be effective, there are three key elements to success:

1. The Mailing List

The first element in having an effective direct marketing campaign is having the right and relevant audience. If you build your own database of users who said they are interested in receiving offers or information about product X, then having a campaign targeted to this audience will definitely give you better results than sending random emails to people who are not interested.

The same goes for rented lists. Defining the right target is key. Whenever you rent any list from a third party, you need to make sure that whoever receives your email is a relevant audience. If whoever is selling (renting) you the list can’t give you enough information about who the mailer is going to, chances are, you are not going to be relevant and you will end up in the spam folder.

A better way to go about it is to go with reputed websites that have a genuine database of users (that opted-in with that website to receive emails from third parties) that you can target with high accuracy. For example, if you are selling accounting software for accountants, go for portals where they keep records of the user’s job title, and send your campaign to accountants within your geographical coverage. An accountant will open an email that comes from you (if you have a relationship with him/her) or from a third party website that he/she is subscribed to, and he/she will be interested in learning about a new software that can make his/her life easier, but a geography teacher will not open your email, and if he/she does by mistake, he/she will immediately delete it, because the offer is not relevant to him/her. You get the point.

2. The Offer

In addition to sending the email to the right people, your “offer” and content is key to assuring you get favorable results. The email has to be visually appealing, easy to read and understand. A person opening your email has to know immediately what you are offering him/her. Make is short, simple and to the point. Highlighting the key benefits and why they need to buy your product or visit your website, or whatever it is you want them to do (what problem it will solve, how it will make their life easier, why you are unique…etc). This information has to be prominent and very easy to spot. The reader will not go through three pages of content to know what the email is all about.

3. The Call to Action

Provided you got the first two point right, you still need to have a call to action. Surprisingly, this is where most campaign fail. A call to action is a simple instruction telling the reader what he/she needs to do after reading this email. If you want people to subscribe to your newsletter, then tell them to go sign up and give them the web address. If you want them to call you for more information about your offer, simply say so, and put your contact details. If you want them to buy a product online, show the website address that they need to visit.

The call to action has to be prominent and usually comes at the end of the message. A nicely written email that look stunning will not give you any results unless you tell people what you need them to do. “Click here”, “Visit Our Showroom”, “Buy Now”, “Download The White Paper”…etc. There are the three elements of effective email marketing campaigns, next time you have an email campaign, remember these rules and you won’t end up in the junk email folder. If you wish to add any insight or have other key elements you want to share, please do comment and tell us all about it.
